Marian's story

My name is Marian.

When I completed SHS, I was contemplating whether to go to the university or start my ACCA journey. I realized I could just register for ACCA with my WASSCE result slip.

So I started my ACCA journey with Duke Williams and it was the best tuition provider to give me that training I needed as an ACCA student. As the years went by, I was progressing. I eventually completed the second level of the ACCA and applied for national service with that.

As a partly qualified ACCA student, I’ve been able to gain employment as an account officer after my national service and still pursuing the final part of the papers.

In my opinion, I think ACCA is the way to go if you aspire to be an accountant.
Because it has given me a whole different exposure and the requisite knowledge needed as a chartered accountant.

Valerie's Story

My name is Valerie Ankomah

When I completed SHS, I had difficulty in entering the university because I did not achieve the grades needed to gain admission. I spent about two years, rewriting core mathematics and failing and that was the only reason why I could not get into the university in the first place.
Year after year of rewriting Core Mathematics, my adoptive Dad who is a chartered accountant, advised me to start taking the ACCA papers, since I wanted to be an accountant, as I waited for admissions to reopen.

So I started my ACCA journey with Duke Williams, and must say it was a great experience. The teaching was organized, interesting and very well structured. The staff are most friendly and approachable to the extent that it was like a whole family all together. Before starting, I had heard stories of how passing the papers can be very difficult but the way the subjects were thought, it rather gave me more and more confidence that I could pass and I did pass all my papers except two, on my first attempt.

As a girl who studied General Science in the High school and with a dream of becoming an accountant, through hard work and determination, I am now a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant. I am currently doing my national service at Penfield High school, the accounts department.

In my opinion, I think ACCA is the way to go if you aspire to be an accountant.
I’m saying this because, ACCA does not just makes you an accountant, no please. It makes you more of a strategic analytical thinker. Also, it did not just affect my life career wise, but also my social life and made me more appreciating of myself.

Also, after completing this journey, I feel like I can do anything once I apply this same attitude.

Thank you.
